This drawing in rich blue watercolour, is the most important of Modigliani’s six studies of Adrienne reproduced [Nos 373 - 378] in The Unknown Modigliani in which Noël Alexandre writes:
We know very little about the relationship between Adrienne and Modigliani, but these six brilliant glimpses are enough to help us understand their closeness.
